The Oscar for the best picture this year appears to be a close run thing with The Hurt Locker and Avatar battling it out to take home the prize.

As things stand with the bookies at the moment The Hurt Locker is favourite to win.

Inglorious Basterds is third in the betting with quite a large gap between it and Invictus in fourth.

Hurt Locker has been a big hit at the awards , it took home the Best film, director, original screenplay, editing, cinematography and sound at the BAFTA Awards.

It has also been nominated for nine academy awards which include Best Picture and Best Director.
