Lady GaGa says she was never due on ‘We Are The World’ single
During an interview on Thursday with Access hollywood’s Billy Bush Lady GaGa stated that she was never supposed to participate in the star studded re recording of the 1985 song ‘We Are The World’ to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The singer insists that she never pulled out of the event as she was never due to be part of it.
The singer explains that she was asked to be on the single but politely declined.
GaGa explains “I’ve actually been in rehearsal for my new tour, but I was never supposed to do ‘We Are The World.’ So that’s a rumor,”
“I believe that they may have asked, yes, about it, but I was unable to do it.”
But it isn’t because she doesn’t want to help as she has already been involved in fund raising, she has donated all the proceeds from one of her shows on her sold out tour and is also selling t-shirts via her website.
“…I’ve been working on my own charity projects for Haiti. We’ve raised over half a million dollars for Haiti already and we like to work specifically with charities that are based in Haiti itself,” she said.
“I donated all of the proceeds from one show worth of ticket sales as well as all the of the merchandise from that show and for 24 hours we had a ‘Gaga for Haiti’ day where everything that was bought on the Web site… every dollar went to Haiti,” the star added. “We’re continuing to work on more projects and we’re supposed to go to Haiti later this year for a show, which is very exciting.”
