Having lost several friends and family members to smoking -related illnesses, I say yes, he's being irresponsible. People who smoke almost always take it up as young teens, when the parts of the brain that deal with long-range consequences have not fully developed. Kids litterally can't always make rational choices at that age, and their strongest motivation is to fit in. Then they're stuck with an addiction stronger than that to heroine. Kristen has said she's going to quit. I hope she succeeds and Rob follows suite. Cigarettes don't just cause lung cancer, you know, they cause--GASP--- WRINKLES! Really! Nicotein and carbon dioxide cause the blood vessels in the skin to constrict, it becomes chronically starved for oxygen. We want Kristen's beautiful face to be still smooth and lovely at forty, don't we? And Rob's too, for that matter.

I agree that maybe now he might think about that. I agree with Karee that the media themselves are the ones glamorizing the smoking. He looks so sexy with a fag in his mouth...Rolling Stone did it and recently Vanity Fair....I think Rob smokes and they take the pictures and then use them...not his choice necessarily. The number one influence on children smoking is not the stars they love but their parents.

Look, I understand where the urge to judge people comes from...that most the time we think its from some sort of moral place within ourselves, I am so tired of the press blaming celebrities, video games, TV, movies and the like for what others decide to do. We all have choices to make in this life and if someone chooses to smoke solely on the grounds of their favorite celebrity being a smoker then they need their head examined. Leave the man alone, he can do as he chooses...as far as some media outlet paying for pictures of him smoking...that's also their right. Maybe we should blame the media. God knows no one actually wants to take responsibility for their own choices, so why not blame the people who exploit his habits, not the individual, who has every right to smoke like a chimney if he chooses to do so. It is not his responsibility to help or hinder us in the process of raising our children. He's just being himself.
