TMZ are reporting that Elton John may take over from Simon Cowell on American idol.

John could be a good guy for the job, he certainly knows the industry, he’s British and he is said to have a sort of bitchy attitude.

Elton was a guest judge during season three of American Idol and when TMZ tried to contact Eltons spokesperson all they told him was that he was on holiday.

But a TMZ spy on American Idol has said that word on the set is that it will be Elton that takes over.
