Only the first day into the new year and already things are changing

The pair have spent Christmas and New Year apart for the first time in a decade.

It seems that this split was Ant’s wife Lisa that prompted this trial split so that she could spend the holidays alone with her husband.

After Ant broke the news to Dec he left the country to go to a five star holiday in the Far East for himself and his wife.

But it appears that Dec isn’t really that bothered about starting the New Year without Ant. Instead the presenter took the chance to take girlfriend Georgie Thompson on a surprise holiday to Zanzibar.

A source has said “This is the first Christmas and New Year that Ant and Dec have spent apart in almost 10 years. It just shows how loved-up Dec is with Georgie that he didn’t mind not celebrating the festivities with his best mate for once. He and Ant have been inseparable since they got together, but recently Dec has been spending more and more time away from Ant. And that’s a good thing – living in each other’s pockets at 34 is a little bit sad.”

“Dec and Georgie couldn’t spend Christmas together so he wanted to do something special for New Year. Having 2010 dawn while they are in the air means it will be only the two of them.”

“Dec said he wants to start the year as he intends it to end – with Georgie. Everyone thinks this is going to lead somewhere. Georgie practically lives at Dec’s anyway so moving in would be the next step.”

“But his mum is itching to buy a hat.”

“She would love to get a call on New Year’s Day to say he had proposed- that would make her Christmas.”
